I took an early interest in dogs, and can remember my first dog at the age of five. I wanted a career with animals but as a teenager I didn't know what or how. I decided to donate my time to wildlife rescue. There I worked with a cougar, a bobcat, owls, hawks, snakes and alligators. One day, I met a very large rescued wolf. I fell in love with it and dedicated myself to learning about the canis lupus (gray wolf) pack mentality.
I moved on to work at a veterinarian's office but decided I wanted to help dogs and their owners on more of a positive note, not where the dog is hurt and the owner is in sorrow! So from working with sport dogs, I discovered I had a gift and a passion for training.
I went through an internship program at a top working dog training facility, where I was hired and worked for nine years, training dogs for obedience, problem solving, protection and behavior modification. I also trained and maintained dogs and their handlers at a prominent security firm.
